Can I get compensation automatically if the flight was delayed due to the fault of the airline?

A flight is considered to be delayed if your scheduled flight landed at the final destination late by more than 3 hours.

€250 if distance < 1.500 km and delay is 3+ hours
€400 if distance < 3500 km and delay is 3+ hours
€600 if distance > 3500 km and delay is 4+ hours

1,300 ILS for flights up to 2,000 km
ILS 2080 for flights up to 4,500 km
3120 ILS for flights with a range of 4,500+ km

Be careful and organized. Do not accept vouchers and do not sign any documents – they may automatically deprive you of the right to receive compensation.

If your delay is 3+ hours, contact your airline representative or service agent and request an official certificate stating the reasons for the delay of the flight.

Take a photo of the airport’s electronic scoreboard displaying the actual status of your flight.

Collect all the checks. You will need them all in order to apply with a claim.

The flight was not able to arrive on time because the airline messed up with the crew planning.
The flight disruption occurred because something broke down in the plane and it wasn’t a manufacturing flaw.
The plane was late to arrive from previous flight to fly your route.
There might be some other airline related issue that disrupted the flight, thus making it eligible for compensation.

1. Hotel if you have to wait for 8+ hrs
2. Transfer to hotel.
3. Two phone calls.
4. Drinks and meals if you have to wait 2-4 hours

Your flight was delayed due to strike.
Your flight was delayed due to a bird strike.
Your flight was delayed due to fog or other weather conditions.
Your flight is not under regulations or laws respecting delayed flights compensation (EU, Israel, US etc.)
