Flight canceled

According to Regulation (EU) No 261/2004 of the European Parliament and the Council, in case of canceled flights, you are entitled to compensation, regardless of the cost of the ticket.

If your flight is canceled and you find out about it at the airport, follow the simple instructions that will help protect your rights:

  1. Get together and don’t panic. Now you need to be careful and organized to protect your rights and compensate for the losses incurred.
  2. Contact your airline representative or service agent and request an official certificate stating the reasons for the delay or cancellation of the flight. In the absence of information, request to make a mark with the above information directly on your ticket. Pay attention that the person to whom you applied for a certificate or a note must mark  his position, full name and put a signature or stamp.
  3. Take a photo of the airport’s electronic scoreboard displaying the actual status of your flight.
  4. Collect all the checks. We will need them all in order to apply with a claim.
  5. Do not accept vouchers and do not sign any documents – they may automatically deprive you of the right to receive the due compensation.

Compensation for flight cancellation due to the fault of the airline

Pay attention! If your flight is canceled due to the fault of the airline, you are entitled to compensation. This rule applies if you find out about a flight cancellation 14 or less days before departure.

If the airline contacted you earlier than 14 days and announced a flight cancellation, you can choose one of the options:

  • if the airline offers, take another flight;
  • refuse a flight and get money back for your ticket.

If you choose the last option, the compensation is not foreseen.

If your flight was canceled, the airline should offer you:

  1. Drinks and meals after 2-4 hours of delay depending on the flight range.
  2. Hotel – if flight is delayed for the next day.
  3. Transfer to hotel.
  4. Two phone calls.
